I really enjoyed it and decided I wanted to stay in the industry. ![]() My major in college was Radio/TV/Film, but it so happened that all the internships I worked and my first job after college were in animation. It wasn’t until I was in college that I realized there were jobs in animation that didn’t require being an artist. “As a kid, I watched lots of cartoons (and to this day I still really like cartoons), but it never crossed my mind growing up that I could work in animation because I wasn’t much of an artist. He gave me a shot and convinced me to move to Los Angeles and I’ve been bouncing around from studio to studio ever since.” One year at San Diego Comic-Con I met Breehn Burns, the director of the cartoon version of Bravest Warriors, and asked if he needed a storyboard artist on the show. I spent four or five years working on licensed comics like Adventure Time and Sonic and had a regular monthly gig doing covers for a series called Bravest Warriors. As for how I got into the animation industry, I got a degree in animation but after graduation went directly into an adjacent industry: comics. For me, once I found out how to make flip-books on Post-it notepads I was hooked. For people that realize there’s no actual reason to stop enjoying cartoons, I think it’s natural to start learning how they’re made. Everyone likes cartoons as kid and then at some point they’re just not supposed to anymore. ![]() In addition, Jasmin Hernandez handled the production side of things.īefore we got onto Sonic Mania Adventures though, I wanted to know how the both of them had gotten into animation. ![]() One of the main people behind Sonic Mania Adventures is that of Tyson Hesse, who was the director of the series and wrote a chunk of it.
